Metamorphosis III

Metamorphosis III (The struggle for self preservation)

Size: 4ft/4ft
Medium: Oil on canvas

Metamorphosis III: It is a popular notion that “you can not give what you do not have” we teach as we were taught. We grind as we were grounded. In giving what we have, we are sharing a part of what we are, Thoughts, Concepts, and belief systems. This is seen clearly in father and child relationship, or in a Teacher/Student relationship.

Our ideas and thoughts are our own Chains or liberation. In this piece, the rope is symbolic of the thought energy that We use to bind ourselves, and in turn spread our thoughts to others (friends, family) around us. In doing this we create a circle of sameness and we call it culture, tradition, or doctrine. It is a break from this circle that we think keeps us safe, that leads to self Inquiry, societal Inquiry, Inquiry about nature and then expression and expansion.
